The Bambinos Were Salty

It's been a weird day.

Claire was an acolyte today at church, and just before communion she fainted. Luckily she was kneeling so there wasn't too far to fall. Her ear hit the altar rail and left a nasty bruise. The acolyte master managed to scoop her up like a little rag doll and get her to the sacristy - losing a pink shoe in the process. It was a bit of a scene, really. I rushed up to the altar, and kind of hesitated. I didn't know whether I was still expected to bow at the altar when my kid lost consciousness. (I opted not to). Anyway, she's completely fine, we probably created a hideous scene and broke three zillion rules or something.

And, tonight was the first big book club meeting. I was overprepared, almost to the point of being uncomfortable about it. Also, the shrimp bambinos were EXTREMELY SALTY. And, they kind of stuck to the little napkin I placed them on. And, they didn't broil evenly. Some were cold, some were burnt. I don't know that I will ever get over it. Although, I am finally able to live with the memory of Claire's 3rd birthday. Perhaps seven years from now I really won't care if the bambinos were salty.

I just don't know these ladies well enough to trust that they can overlook such an egregious breach of civility and good taste. I'm sure this would never happen in Europe.
